Direct Support Specilist(DSP)
Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- DSP works closely with the client, client’s families, and program manager
to guarantee that client is receiving the best available care and support
adhering to client individual personal plan in place. - Activity Daily Living ’s Assistance to include but is not limited to feeding,
dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting/incontinence, transfers/repositioning, ambulation, exercises. - Housekeeping including laundry, errands/appointments, organizing.
- Meal planning, preparation, cleanup, monitoring and, monitoring dietary
restrictions and allergies. - Medication administration, scheduling doctor’s appointments, monitoring
vitals. - Monitoring cognitive status, interacting with, and engaging clients in
activities/hobbies (both inside and outside the home) - Completes all required documentation in accordance with agency
following policy and procedures as they follow professional standards. - Required to attend mandatory in-service training.
- Trained and utilize universal precautions as necessary for health and
safety. - Conducts wellbeing checks on clients and reports any changes in client’s
physical or mental status to the program manager immediately. - Staff should be able to Kneel and move from sitting, bending, kneeling, or
standing multiple times a day. - Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds.
- Climb up and down up to stairs at a time (depending on the client’s home). Other Requirements:
- Background check, including any program-specific requirements.
- 3 references (2 professional references, 1 personal reference).
- Physical Examination.
- CPR/ First-Aid Training
- Drug testing.
- Risk Management
- PCISP Training
- TB testing.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Reliable Transportation.
- Valid Auto Insurance.
Relevant Education:
• High School Diploma/ GED
Relevant Experience:
Preferred: 1 year in a comparable human service capacity.
Team- worker, Reliable, energetic, self-motivated, and well-organized
